Wentworth Point Public School
Where every student is supported to learn, grow, and thrive. We invite all children to be part of our friendly, inclusive school community
Acknowledgement of Country
Warami, Wentworth Point Public School acknowledges the Wangal people, the Traditional Custodians of the land along the Burramatta River where we live, learn and play each day. We pay our deep respects to Elders past, present and emerging. We are committed to honouring and protecting this land, now and into the future. May we walk gently together, always remembering that this sacred ground was, is, and always will be Aboriginal land.
Learning on Wurrungwuri
This artwork represents the deep sense of connection that sits at the heart of Wentworth Point Public School and was created by Matt WIlkinson, specifically for our School. At the centre of the story is our school, positioned on the banks of the Burramattagal River, which flows from both the east and west.
This central placement reflects the way our school brings people together, standing as a meeting point for students, teachers, and the wider community. The meeting places within the artwork symbolise the relationships, learning, and collaboration that occur every day. They are surrounded by representations of the diverse communities who come together within our school, creating a shared sense of belonging. The lands on which our school stands were once home to the Wangal People, a clan of the Dharug Nation.
The Wangal People relied on the lands and waters around this area for hunting, gathering, fishing, and daily life. The flowing river and branching estuaries depicted in the artwork honour this history, showing the fish and eels that would have been essential food sources for their community. Through this piece, we acknowledge the past, celebrate the present, and recognise the ongoing connections that shape who we are as a school community.
